It isn’t all About the Music- Austin’s SXSW partnership with STARTUP AMERICA!

If you think Austin’s renowned South by Southwest Festival is an event that only attracts this capitol city’s avid music lovers, think again!   This year, the famous festival organization has teamed up with STARTUP America to provide helpful resources and connections for entrepreneurs in attendance.

Implemented a year ago by the Obama administration, and originally funded by monies from the Kauffman and Case Foundations, STARTUP America is a non-profit entity that assists business growth for entrepreneurs through resources and connections.  One of the main objectives of the program is to encourage private sector partners to motivate the start-up movement around the nation.  So far, a total of 17 regions around the country have collaborated with STARTUP America to create their own branches of this program.  And you can bet your bottom dollar that Texas is on board!

Set to launch in conjunction with the festival, Startup Texas will be a part of SXSW’s “Startup Village” and feature successful entrepreneurs from around the country.  Other interactive elements include pitch-practicing sessions, one-on-one access to small business mentorship and investors, not to mention, great food, drink and music!  Exclusive access to the centrally located event space dubbed “Startup America Live” will be open to members of Startup America (membership is free).  Spread over a 5-day period, from March 9-13th, the event is sure to be loaded with unique entrepreneurial resources all in one spot. Now that’s music to my ears!

¡Si solamente pensaste que Austin’s Festival “South by Southwest” era un evento que únicamente atrae a los fans de la música, piénsalo otra vez!  Este año, los organizadores del famoso festival  se han aliado con “Startup America” para proveer de recursos y conexiones a los emprendedores que asistan al evento.

Implementado hace un año por la administración de Obama, y originalmente fundado por los fundaciones Kauffman y Case, Startup America es un entidad sin fines de lucro que asiste en el crecimiento de emprendedores a través de varios recursos y conexiones. Uno de los objetivos principales del programa es motivar la participación del sector privado en la promoción del movimiento “start-up” en la nación.  Hasta ahora, 17 regiones en Estados Unidos han colaborado con STARTUP America para crear sus propias ramas del programa nacional.  Texas representa una de las 17 regiones que participarán en el programa.

El lanzamiento de Startup Texas va tomar lugar en conjunción con la Festival SXSW dentro del evento “Startup Village”.  ¡Los elementos interactivos del programa incluyen acceso a sesiones individuales con mentores de pequeños negocios e inversionistas, y por supuesto comida, bebidas, y música espectacular! Además, hay acceso exclusivo a un local centralizado para todos los miembros de Startup America (La membresía es gratis).

Con una duración de cinco días, del 9 al 13 de marzo, el evento estará lleno de recursos únicos para emprendedores. ¡ Eso es música para mis oídos!
